Safety Edition 2025: Macon R-1 School District is committed to the safety of our students and staff, and will continue safety assessments and upgrades on a yearly basis or as needed.
Macon Tiger Staff
Staff Training:
- SRO was certified in facilitating a district wide safety training through the Tier One Tactical Solutions training program
- Implemented the Tier One all staff safety training during our back to school PD, including classroom instruction, with hands-on situations.
Macon Tiger Facilities
Campus Safety Measures:
- New cameras at the High School, Middle and MACTEC
- Safety film installed on all entrances throughout the district
- Electronic door access added to all entrances throughout the district
- Daily exterior door checks by the SRO
- Created a threat assessment process
- Installed Knox Boxes on all of our buildings
- Placed Safety Bags in every classroom throughout the district containing first aid kits and items to secure the classroom
The Tiger Community
Working with Local Law Enforcement & Safety Enforcement Companies:
- Installed boat cleats in every classroom throughout the district
- Currently in the process of placing room numbers on all the exterior rooms
- Installed speed bumps in the circle drive
- Purchased a crosswalk sign for use in front of the elementary
