Macon Area Career and Technical Education Center Adult & Community Education program provides a diverse set of educational course opportunities for Macon and the surrounding communities. Classes are selected based on community and business needs and interest. 

Classes are offered in the areas of computers, arts and crafts, health, and personal enrichment. If you have an interest in teaching a course, please call or email Lydia McClellan.

Career and technical classes are available to upgrade skills or train for a new career.

Customized training opportunities for businesses are available.

Moberly Area Community College offers college credit courses at Macon AVTS for students pursuing a degree program.

The Macon Career Center offers the following courses on a continual basis. Please call for dates.

Certified Medication Technician (CMT)- THIS COURSE IS DESIGNED TO MEET THE REQUIRED STANDARDS OF MEDICATION TECHNICIANS WHO ARE EMPLOYED BY NURSING HOMES. IT INCLUDES 60 INSTRUCTIONAL HRS IN CLASSROOM W/ SUPERVISED PRACTICUM TO FOLLOW. Course fee of $425

Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA)- DESIGNED TO TEACH THE BASIC SKILLS NEEDED FOR THOSE EMPLOYED AS NURSE ASSISTANTS IN MISSOURI NURSING HOMES. SEVERAL WRITTEN EXAMS DURING THE COURSE. 100 HOURS OF LICENSED NURSING SUPERVISED EXPERIENCE AND A FINAL EXAM MUST BE COMPLETED IN FOUR MONTHS OF EMPLOYMENT. UPON COMPLETION, STUDENT WILL BECOME A CERTIFIED NURSE ASSISTANT. Course fee of $400

Child Development Associate (CDA)- THE CDA IS A NATIONALLY RECOGNIZED CREDENTIAL FOR INDIVIDUALS WORKING WITH YOUNG CHILDREN. THE CREDENTIAL IS EARNED THROUGH THE COMPLETION OF 120 CLOCK HOURS OF EARLY CHILDHOOD TRAINING AND 480 CLOCK HOURS OF EXPERIENCE WITH YOUNG CHILDREN AND THE SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF THE CDA ORAL AND WRITTEN EXAMINATION. STUDENTS WILL RECEIVE INSTRUCTION IN THE EIGHT CDA CONTENT AREAS AND IN PREPARATION OF THEIR PROFESSIONAL RESOURCE FILE. Course fee of $425

Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)- THIS TRAINING PROGRAM IS OFFERED TO THOSE WHO DESIRE TO BE LICENSED AS EMERGENCY MEDICAL TECHNICIANS (EMT) BY THE MISSOURI DIVISION OF HEALTH. THE EMT PROGRAM IS THE BASIC LEVEL OF TRAINING FOR THE EMERGENCY CARE PROVIDER THAT LEADS TO BOTH STATE AND NATIONAL LICENSE EXAMINATION. INSTRUCTOR USES A COMBO OF CLASSROOM TRAINING AND CLINICAL OBSERVATIONS. Course fee of $750

High School Equivalency classes (HiSET/GED), English as Second Language classes, K-12 tutoring, and college or ASVAB preparation are offered through the Macon Adult Education and Literacy program.  ELL/ESL classes are only held in Macon. Sites include:
